Virginia Hayward launches new responsive-design mobile-friendly website

Our latest press release, detailing our responsive web design work for Virginia Hayward Hampers and Gifts.

Based in Shaftesbury, Dorset, Virginia Hayward is a family business selling high quality hampers and gifts to individuals, corporate and high street retailers such as Selfridges and John Lewis. Committed to finding the best of local, national and international produce for inclusion in their gifts and hampers, the company has a reputation for delivering top quality customer service.

The original www.virginiahayward.com website delivered exceptional results for the company, however, with a distinct trend towards users accessing their website via smartphones and tablets, the decision was made to re-launch the site with a brand new responsive design, so that it can be viewed perfectly via smaller devices.

Developed by Cardiff based web agency, Imaginet, the new website uses the latest method of web design called Responsive Design, so that a web page will automatically resize and re-format itself dependent on the size of the browser. This means that rather than a user having to pinch in and out to view product images and press on links when viewing a page of products, they will be able to see them in a sensible list of images automatically. With smartphone and tablet usage still in a rapid growth period, this new feature ensures Virginia Hayward will stay ahead of the game in terms of their offerings to customers.

Other website features include a modern design and improved presentation of products, links to independent reviews from Feefo, a wide range of products and complex multiple address delivery system for corporate clients to send hamper gifts to their customers. The site also allows customers to track their orders on-line via a fully integrated back-office system with the website.

Speaking from their offices in Dorset, Justin Walmsley, Digital Marketing Manager said:

"We're hoping to see some fantastic results from the new website, particularly with mobile and tablet users who previously would have found it fairly trying to purchase via their device. The new design and overall presentation of products has been improved and combined with our high quality products will ensure we maintain our competitive advantage in the market."

Nigel Robert, Imaginet’s Managing Director also commented:

"We’re one of the first agencies in the UK to be actively embracing responsive design, particularly for use in e-commerce and are already seeing positive results in our customers’ websites. It’s all about analyzing the tasks a customer wishes to complete on your website along with the content they want to see and ensuring this is available in the simplest format. We’re looking forward to seeing how www.virginiahayward.com performs via handheld devices over the next year."
