Cardiff Design Festival starts on 2nd October and celebrates the best design talent in Wales. The festival incorporates a number of design focused events across the city as well as an exciting awards party.
Local designers are invited to submit their work with the hope of being shortlisted to appear on the festival website showcase and in an exhibition of the Best of Welsh Design during the Festival in October.
This year, the festival has received over 150 entries to the awards and Imaginet is delighted to have been shortlisted for the design work it created for the Visit Conwy Touchscreen kiosk interface. This project involved implementing a through-glass touchscreen kiosk into a community information centre in Colwyn Bay in order to provide tourist information services 24/7.
It is a superb example of design for Human Computer Interaction, making it easy for users to navigate the extensive tourism content using their fingers as opposed to a mouse. Visitors can find out about local accommodation, events and attractions, all within an easy to use interface that combines highly attractive imagery with great functionality like Google maps.
The designers also created a highly visual 'attractor', similar to a screensaver, to draw users to the kiosk and this has also been recognised in the awards.
Imaginet's Marketing Manager, Paula Dauncey commented from Imaginet's offices in central Cardiff:
"Imaginet's web designers are amongst the best in Britain and have a real flair for creating truly innovative and attractive web designs that work perfectly within functional solutions. Their skills in creating touchscreen kiosk interface designs are setting the benchmark in the sector and this second award for one of our touchscreen solutions is a testament to our skills in this area."
The Award winners will be announced at the Grand Recycled Ballroom Party 24th October.
